Bigpoint GmbH is a premier brand in European online multi-player games, with over 24 free multiplayer games in its portfolio. The company develops and hosts browser-based games, which can be accessed anywhere, anytime, without the need to download an application. Bigpoint has over 100 million registered users and up to 150,000 concurrent players. In the course of a game, players can enhance their game experience by buying virtual goods – either consumer goods or durable goods for use in the game – or by using special game features with a premium subscription.

Bigpoint has received a number of recent industry awards in recognition of its success, including winning the Ruban d'Honneur at the European Business Award 2009, placing Bigpoint amongst the top 100 companies in Europe, winning the eco Internet Award 2009 for Best Content Provider, Bigpoint game Deepolis winning the red dot award:communication design 2009 (Digital Games) and Bigpoint CEO Heiko Hubertz winning the International Stevie Award 2009 for European Executive of the Year.

In April 2011, GMT completed the sale of Bigpoint to a private equity consortium of Summit Partners and TA Associates.  The disposal was the second from GMT's third Fund, generating a return on investment of approximately 4x at closing.
